I just joined up the other day, but this project has been going on for a couple of years now. What has been found yet? Anything? A Lead? How much of the sky's radio waves has been processed by PC's in terms of %. 10% 5% 1% or less? Is there anything at this website that will let you know their progress? Thanks, Jaco |

SETI as a science has been going on for decades, and so far nothing has been found yet. Of course, as time goes on the ability to look for more types of signals in more parts of the sky improves, and more telescopes/academic institutions are added to the mix. Our group has been very busy ramping down one SETI project (SETI@home "classic") while ramping up another (SETI@home "enhanced" which uses a whole new networking platform called BOINC). As well we have other SETI projects that do not require volunteer computing (Optical SETI - looking for light pulses, and SERENDIP - another radio frequency search that scans more frequencies than SETI@home but not nearly as "deep"). We are also working on a better signal processing backend that will process the SETI@home signals as they come in, so our web site would be continually updated with the "current most interesting candidate signals," etc. Of course, nothing is all that interesting until we go back to the observatory, scan those coordinates again, and see the exact same signals. - Matt I just joined up the other day, but this project has been going on for a couple of years now. -- BOINC/SETI@home network/web/science/development person -- "Any idiot can have a good idea. Try here for a start: Signal Candidate Page I'm not sure how long those pages are going to be available for as Seti Classic is closing down soon. Matt, are these pages/links going to be re-written or made available from the Seti BOINC Web Site? Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not. In either case the idea is quite staggering. |

And I do appreciate that you're currently rather busy and will be for some time. Keep up the good work. Join TeamACC Sometimes I think we are alone in the universe, and sometimes I think we are not.
