I would like to know how to make the screensaver display the graphics without constantly flipping back and fourth from the graphics to the moving (and boring) BONIC logo that tell the status and progress. The screensaver is running fine otherwise with the graphics set so that they won't rotate. I don't see a way to edit the preferences to achive this. I am using an old machine (800MHZ AMD Duron) with a Matrox MGA-G200AGP 16Meg card running Microsoft Evil 98SE. I recently returned to SETI after not using it for about 4 years and am new to BONIC. Thank you in advance to anyone who can help. |

Which version of BOINC have you got, did you get 5.2.6? Touch wood, never heard of this before. Be interested to hear suggestions from people. Simon Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. ![]() |

In your general preferences, for Do work while computer is in use? do you have it set for Yes? In some instances, BOINC has misinterpreted screen saver or other background activity as computer usage and stopped the science process. Because the priority for BOINC and the projects is set as low as it can get to be above Idle, unless you're using some very graphics intensive software, you're safe in allowing BOINC to work while you are too. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I do already have the preferences set to "Do work while the computer is in use". It doesn't seem to make a difference. I am also running the latest version of BONIC (5.2.6). It may be a resource problem. Windows 98 is very quirky and can act strange if resources get to low. And even though I have 640 megs of ram, the HP software for my OfficeJet G85 for USB would drag any machine to it's knees. I will keep trying. P.M. |
