When I try to get my computer to come off of the screen saver it locks everything up. I get about 4 small tiles I can see hazily of the seti program running at the top of the screen, but I must use cntrl-alt-delt to restart my computer and unlock the graphics. Any suggestions or is this the end of me running seti at home once they quit using the classic program. |

Looks like there might be a bug in the screensaver... yours isn't the only report of this that I have seen. Have you noticed anything as far as timing goes? i.e. does it only lock up after it has been in screensaver mode for 10 minutes or more? Or is it immediate? If it takes a while, I would suggest setting the screen saver to go blank after a few minutes. This will greatly improve your processing speed too :) If it is indeed a bug, I'm sure it will be fixed as soon as possible. |

I need to have password enabled with screensaver, setting a one minute timeout, and clicking goto blank screen on the settings, once the screen saver starts I am unable to regain control of my machine. First the fancy 3D graphics is displayed when I asked for a blank screen. Hitting any key brings up the password dialog, but it is not the focus and I can not type characters. Alt tab will not switch focus and all other normal key strokes give chimes. After a short period the screen does blank, but keys still just chime and I do not get the login prompt again. Ctl-Alt-Del does nothing, no chimes no reboot no change in display. Num lock still changes state of lights. Only solution is to reboot (by power switch). The machine is slow old pent 200 with 198 Meg of ram running windows 98 (the machine I work on runs linux). Need screen saver to end quickly when needed or I can't run it here.
