I get these errors, when I compile boinc:

shmem.C: In function ‘int attach_shmem(key_t, void**)’:
shmem.C:132: error: cast from ‘void*’ to ‘int’ loses precision
make[2]: *** [shmem.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/root/boinc/lib'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/boinc'
make: *** [all] Error 2
There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those aho don't.

What OS is that under? I would dig in a bit and then post your findings to the boinc-dev mailing list...

He's running linux and according to the kernel version 2.6.13 it must be a newer distribution.

Cosindering that it makes sence that there is gcc 4.x.x shiped with the distro and the boinc/seti code is a bit lazy programmed when it comes to iso c / c++ standards.

Gcc 4 is more strict when it comes to standard coding.Same goes for VS 2005 on windows (the standard setisource gives hundreds of errors).

Anyway he could use a precompiled version of boinc/seti if he's after performance.
They are all available on the third party page.
