FreeBSD and OpenBSD use the same kernal and libraries, so it should work.

BUT...

I would reccommend that you DL the source code and compile the program specific to your computer. In doint this, the program will run more efficiently with the resources you have on your machine. I did that on my SunUltra 10 with Solaris 10 and it runs flawlessly.

The packaged version (binary) is a generic compile for every iteration of the types of system using that particular OS. Being a generic compile, they do not use all the resources as efficiently as they could. In general, compiling programs specifically for your machine takes a little more time compared to installing a binary, but the added efficiency is well worth the extra time.

Check out the info at the following site.

Good luck!

And there are both binary compatible ?

Compile on OpenBSD ain't funny. Because, there are a lot of OpenBSD specific problems. So I can save a lot of time, and if I should not port it to another platform, if there is an binary available, and the person, which has ported it to openbsd is willing to share it with the other users.
