Running XP Home SP1 - I have Norton's Internet Security installed. NIS will not allow Boinc to pass through. If I disable NIS then I can connect. Does anyone know how to Configure NIS to allow BOINC to do it's thing, but still keep me secure. TIA |

Hi, air latimor. Open up NIS and click on "personal firewall". When you do, to the right you'll see a section with two options at the bottom: "turn off" and "configure". Click on configure and a second window with tabs will open. Click on the "program" tab and you should see a list of the programs NIS has created access rules for. You should be able to change the configuration from here. The program you want is boinc.gui.exe, and if for some reason it's not listed, you should be able to add it by browsing your program files folder. I'm not a firewall expert, but I run NIS on my machine as well. Hope that helps. Cheers, Dave |

Thanks Dave. I think that got it. I had to go into the Internet Access Control Option, but was able to add boinc.gui.exe with no problems. I didn't know how or what to add.
