I stopped the BOINC gui (the one with Projects/Work/Transfers/Messages tabs) completely while a unit was being worked on. That unit was at 60% or so, with just under one hour CPU time, at least that's what the BOINC gui showed at the time. When I restarted BOINC, the Progress meter in the gui shows 0% and has NOT updated since then. It says I have that one hour CPU time already done, but it's not updating, nor is the To Completion time. It says it is "Running". If I bring up the Show Graphics, it appears to be running: the %done updates in the graphics window, but the CPU time does NOT update there or in the BOINC gui. So, what's happening? Is this a known problem? Or is it just my system? How do I get the progress info to update again? Info: WinME (no problems here), 866Mhz P4, 512MB ram. Ask for more info if needed. |

Well, I "reset" the project (it was first work unit) and it did NOT make any difference. The progress% and CPU time in the BOINC GUI were still stuck, though the progress% in the graphics window was updating (but not the CPU time). So I completely stopped the BOINC GUI again. Restarted it, and it all looks good now. Everything is updating. I don't know what happened, though, or if it might crop up again. So if anyone else has seen this problem, please post here so we can compare notes. |

I will "flush" any WUs you've been sent. These now have to be added back to the scheduler queue to be resent. This can set people waiting for credit to be granted back a few weeks. I had only downloaded one unit, and it had only run for one hour. So I didn't loose anything significant, and it didn't push others back more than that one hour. :) Since I was so early in the project, I figured it wouldn't hurt; if I had been further along, I might not have reset at all. |
