The shuttle was never designed to last this long anyways. There is a story I posted in one of the Space News Threads where it says Workers caused the foam damage...Story Here

Personally I kinda like the idea for the new launch vehicles. They use proven components, but arranged in a much safer layout. That should greatly cut down not only the R&D time, but allow for more launches that the entire shuttle fleet could ever hope to do.

they have only the good old Shuttles....

It is likely already ready. however the shuttle is a "prize" for the USA. It is an, can we say, despite the 2 catastrophies, honarable machine. NASA does not want to lose its most valuable and honored item.

btw i am a great Fan of the Shuttles, i see live the last Start and Landing,

it was wonderfull...

btw did you see the latest HDTV Files at NASA

only for Info, the Files are wonderfull the best ever
