I've set "Switch between applications every 60 minutes", but there is no switch. Each appl. runs till end of its wu. So why does'nt this option work? Running BOINC version 4.45 resp. 4.72 on two machines. ![]() Synergy means the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. |

Are you sure? You are runching for almost every project available. If BOINC did what you think it does, then it would calculate for climate for months before switching. I rather think that your client is in 'panic' mode. Running about 10 projects with a 1700 or 1800 machine is a bit much and probably must end up in panic mode. Panic mode means: Your BOINC detected at least one WU which could not be finished withing deadline when switching. So it decides to work on this WU exclusively. I have the same problem: Predictor@Home runs always and other applications almost never. To let them run i have to suspend manually the 1st one. I expected that, every 60 min, BOINC stopped the running application and launched another one... but it seems not so I read about "Panic moce" and it might be the answer... but now i wonder: since expected time to complete a climateprediction packet is more then 1300 hours and it runs only at 25% i should expect it will never be activated, am i right? so i should better remove it. Moreover, since it can happen that for several days i don't switch my computer on, should i better set the parameter "Connect to network about every" to more than 1 day? What happens to packets i downloaded if i don't run BOINC and don't connect for 3-4 days? |

I have the same problem: Predictor@Home runs always and other applications almost never. To let them run i have to suspend manually the 1st one. Since predictor work has a normal deadline of 7 days any connect setting of 3 days or longer will cause EDF mode at almost all times. BOINC will adjust to the amount of time you have your computer on. Set your queue length to your desired amount divided by the number of projects you are attached to. It will get to the CPDN workunit eventually. If it is a sulphur model it may even be the cause of EDF mode. BOINC WIKI ![]() ![]() BOINCing since 2002/12/8 |
