I have been running the boinc client for about six months, but I've rarely used the option to display graphics. (Right click on the running work unit). When the work unit is complete the graphics display ends, even though a new work unit has started. I don't want to use the screensaver. |

You have to go to the work tab, right click on the new WU, and click show graphics. BONIC handles each WU as a seperate process and you have to do that with every WU. |

I wouldn't think that this would be too hard to do... Does the screensaver operate the same way? I would think that the screensaver would stay active, while work units are changed, behind the scenes. |

If you have more than one CPU, it picks one at random to follow. If you use a password locked screen saver, the screen saver doesn't show anything, just a message that it is a secure windows environment :) jm7 |

I still think that the diplay graphics option, invoked from right clicking on the active work unit, would have similar characteristics. Why not have an app that is invoked from the BOIC client, either as a prefernce from the website, or in the client UI, that will track the current WU?? |

Each project will have its own graphics display. The current projects available are: BOINC Alpha test (by invitation only), BOINC Beta test at http://setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/ap/, S@H, and Predictor at http://predictor.scripps.edu/. Also in the works now are Climate Prediction (to start in July?) and Astro Pulse. Rumors include several other DC projects. Each project may have several applications. For example BOINC Alpha and BOINC Beta send a mix of S@H and AP WUs. As you can immagine the graphics for the prediction of protien folding and S@H will be quite different. ![]() |
