I let BOINC run with seti@home on a PC with Windows XP (ServicePack 1), 2,8 GHz Pentium4/HT/512kB Cache. A connection to the servers is made through a proxy with authentication. This seems to work because a connection to the project servers was possible. The BOINC software got 3 workunits and started computing 2 of them (Hyperthreading, detected 2 processors). BOINC completely finished processing the 2 workunits and then tried to upload the results. When trying this the SW crashed, the window closed and the BOINC icon in the taskbar disappears (task completely shut down). This happens now every time I start the BOINC SW. I can see it finish the processing and a message that tells me that it is trying to upload the results. Then it crashes. This means I can not start and use BOINC at all now. I tried starting just the cli version and got the following result: C:\\Programme\\BOINC>boinc_cli To pause/resume tasks hit CTRL-C, to exit hit CTRL-BREAK 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [---] Starting BOINC client version 3.20 for windows_intelx8 6 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Project prefs: using your defaults 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Host ID is 101619 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2004-07-2 0 15:12:24) 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [---] General prefs: using your defaults 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Resuming computation for result 12ja04ab.9108.15 266.279846.129_1 using setiathome version 3.08 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Resuming computation for result 12ja04ab.9108.15 072.572140.160_1 using setiathome version 3.08 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [---] Cache low-water mark hit; requesting more work 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Requesting 1685406 seconds of work 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincda ta.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2004-07-21 09:09:03 [SETI@home] Started upload of 12ja04ab.9108.15266.279846.119 _1_0 ***UNHANDLED EXCEPTION**** Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x004018C8 write attempt to add ress 0x73614220 1: 07/21/04 09:09:03 C:\\Programme\\BOINC> I also tried the following: C:\\Programme\\BOINC>boinc_cli -return_results_immediately To pause/resume tasks hit CTRL-C, to exit hit CTRL-BREAK 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [---] Starting BOINC client version 3.20 for windows_intelx8 6 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Project prefs: using your defaults 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Host ID is 101619 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2004-07-2 0 15:12:24) 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [---] General prefs: using your defaults 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Resuming computation for result 12ja04ab.9108.15 266.279846.129_1 using setiathome version 3.08 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Resuming computation for result 12ja04ab.9108.15 072.572140.160_1 using setiathome version 3.08 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [---] Cache low-water mark hit; requesting more work 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Requesting 1685406 seconds of work 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Sending request to scheduler: http://setiboincda ta.ssl.berkeley.edu/sah_cgi/cgi 2004-07-21 09:00:16 [SETI@home] Started upload of 12ja04ab.9108.15266.279846.119 _1_0 ***UNHANDLED EXCEPTION**** Reason: Access Violation (0xc0000005) at address 0x004018C8 write attempt to add ress 0x73614220 1: 07/21/04 09:00:16 C:\\Programme\\BOINC> Perhaps this helps finding the bug. |

This is probably a problem related to the use of proxy authentication. You can have a look at this thread. This will maybe give you some info to resolve the problem you have. Hope this helps. Greetings from Belgium. Help Desk: use "Most recent answer first" sorting |
