Which harddrive do you have Boinc installed on? It's that harddrive that you need to clear space on. Although 17GB looks a bit much. Are you running CPDN as well? Oh and please tell me what your disk settings are in your preferences. |

Which harddrive do you have Boinc installed on? It's that harddrive that you need to clear space on. Hmmm - had leave 50 GB disk space free - which would have caused problem - usual story cannot see wood for trees. Will leave it for a while and see if it starts work. Can anyone explain the "optomised seti client" to me ? Am I going to make more efficient use of my machines ? if so what gains should I expect ? Thanx Pete |

First off, disk preferences... you cannot set what you don't own. So if you set the preferences to use no more than 100GB on a drive that is only 40GB, it'll never get it. Use this page in the Wiki as a guideline. The optimized clients are essentially the same clients as the standard 4.18 science application of Seti is, but compiled using an Intel compiler. They are quicker. They use the same work units, the same benchmark code, but get through the data quicker. So they claim less credit. And their graphics don't work, since they aren't linked to the graphics libraries. So if you like to look at the graphics or screensaver, don't use the optimised clients. http://www.marisan.nl/seti/ |
