I have just been looking through the forum and can't find any pointers to why BOINCs only useing 3.9MB of my hard disk... I have my preferences set at: -
Use no more than 5 GB disk space
Leave at least 2 GB disk space free
Use no more than 50% of total disk space
Write to disk at most every 60 seconds
Use no more than 75% of total virtual memory

I have BOINC on an 18GB partition of which currently 16GB is empty... Why's it only useing so little ?

Whilst I've been looking through the forum I think I've found out why BOINC's only getting 2 WU's, I had it set to pole every half day... I have now set it to pole every 5 days to see if this makes any difference, - yes I'm on ADSL and the PC's on most of the time. I realise that things are only just getting up and running again after a major outage and it'll take some time for me to get on to send the units i've completed and to get some new ones, I'll report later...

Well, since each WU is only around 350KB, 1 Gbyte will hold about 2,800 WU, and the result files are around 20KB, so they don't add much. You have lots of room for other projects' WUs as well, if you are interested.

Hello and welcome Nick,

if you want to have HD-huggers on your puter, you should attach to ClimatePrediction. They grow up to 800MB, upload some 20MB, and zip the rest on your HD, keeping ~360MB for each crunched WU there ;)

The new sulphur cycle will probably be even bigger, it'll crunch at least 2.7 times as long, and the old ones were long-runners as well (~900h on my puter ;).

Happy crunching!

Ah ha, I missed the point !

I shall have a look at some other projects and start on them some time soon...

Thanks both for your answers...
