So casting blew up on my face... I did it wrong: I separated 10 kg of cast: 5 & 5 kgs on 2 different buckets, first, and by parts I added the first 5 kgs into water and slowly poured it onto the clay, which would later create a solid, nice but very thin layer of cast. Then I added water to the other 5kgs, ruining them (and thus the whole casting)... However back then (2 weeks ago) I didn't know this. The next day after I began the casting process, there was still water on top of the cast (I added too much water too, but that wasn't a problem...). 3 days later, top layer of cast was still "pasty" (just like a toothpaste). 6 days later, still very wey... Really sad... Yesterday I began removing 'crusts' of the top layer to find a really nice looking layer of long-expected dry and hard cast... So today I removed it all and I'll be doing it all tomorrow, hoping to get it right this time, so I won't be mixing water to cast... Very stupid, and costly (in terms of time particularly) mistake. Sorry for the delay, but let me tell you that the original clay was barely affected when I removed the dry layer of cast. I'll clean it up here and there and tomorrow morning I'll get it right, I promise. |
