Hi I've been running boinc 4.71 without a problem on fedora core 4. I just installed boinc 4.72, and although the client is running fine, boinc manager won't open. thanks Tom |

do this for me. I assume you are using a GUI to open boincmgr, correct? If you are, then open a terminal window, cd to the boinc directory, and type ./boincmgr and see if you get a list of errors. i am having a similar problem on my Debian machine with 4.72. i would click on the boincmgr icon and got nothing. I did the above steps and get the following list of errors. Debian:/usr/BOINC# ./boincmgr >> boincmgrerror.log SIGSEGV: segmentation violationStack trace (10 frames): ./boincmgr[0x81cf75a] [0xffffe420] ./boincmgr(_ZN10CMainFrame14CreateNotebookEv+0x335)[0x81a082d] ./boincmgr(_ZN10CMainFrameC1E8wxString+0x17d)[0x819d61d] ./boincmgr(_ZN12CBOINCGUIApp6OnInitEv+0x6ed)[0x818146d] ./boincmgr(_ZN12wxAppConsole10CallOnInitEv+0xf)[0x8182b1b] ./boincmgr(_Z7wxEntryRiPPc+0x2d)[0x8325319] ./boincmgr(main+0x1a)[0x8180c66] /lib/tls/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xf4)[0xb7db2974] ./boincmgr(XMapRaised+0x35)[0x817e6f1] Exiting... Debian:/usr/BOINC# l Perhaps we are having the same problem. Jim |

I reinstalled boinc 4.72 and once again confirmed that boincmgr does not open. I went ahead and called ./boincmgr on a terminal and got an error message that repeated many times: calledSIGABRT: abort calledSegmentation fault the part of that message that repeated so much was "calledSIGABRT: abort I have no idea what it means, I'm reverting back to 4.71 |
