Hi, I tried the Seti/Boinc Client today on my amd64-gentoo box, but it fails every time with "Message from server: platform 'x86_64-pc-linux-gnu' not found". Is there a known fix or workaround? Why should there be amd64 version if the Boinc server cannot handle amd64 platforms? I'm using the gentoo version "sci-misc/boinc-4.32". I also tried the the generic-linux-client from the seti website. It always exits with "Unrecoverable error for result $packagename (process exited with code 127 (0x7f))". thx for your help, Bommel |

Don´t use that ebuild Ãt´s far to old and broken (building boinc is just one thing you need a client too). Thx for your help, Crunch3r! I tried the newest Client from www.pperry.f22.com, but the problem remains the same. Whenever the Client want to fetch new work, the server tells me, that it doesn't know my platform and delays for 1 day :(. Any suggestions? |

Don´t use that ebuild Ãt´s far to old and broken (building boinc is just one thing you need a client too). After downloading and unpacking the boinc client you need to put the setiathome client into the folder "projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu" wich is located in your boinc directory. It´s important to put the file app_info.xml into "projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu" ! It contains the name of the setiathome client to use with boinc. OR if you don´t want to try any more use this one --> http://www.bm-makler.de/setiathome/Boinc.tar.bz2 Just create a folder "/opt/boinc" and extract the files into there. Attach to the project and that´s it ;) regards Crunch3r ![]() Join BOINC United now! |

I used to have the same problem . Here is the solution I found: 1. Detach the project 2. Attach the project again and exit the client immediately (don`t wait until it tries to download any workunits) ! 3. Put a copy of your freshly compiled setiathome client in the ../projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu folder. 4 Create an app_info.xml file within the same folder. Here is an example of the contents of my app_info.xml file (change it according to your needs): setiathome setiathome_4.07.3a_amd64-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu setiathome 407 setiathome_4.07.3a_amd64-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu setiathome setiathome_4.07.3-athlon-xp-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu setiathome 470 setiathome_4.07.3a_amd64-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu setiathome setiathome_4.02_i686-pc-linux-gnu setiathome 402 setiathome_4.07.3a_amd64-fftw3-static-pc-linux-gnu 5. Restart the client (Make sure that the permissions of your boinc folder are set correctly. 6. Have fun ! I found this help on the download site of boinc. There click on "download executables from a third party site" and then on "Seti-Linux" ! |

Look at http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=18923, there is a solution for the "Error 127" described. |
