I just installed boinc-4.43 and tried to run it with: boinc -attach_project http://setiathome.berkeley.edu "my account key" and it tells me that another instance of boinc is running. |

I also have this problem. The only problem is... I have made sure that the lockfile has been removed and that boinc is NOT running at all before starting it. So, effectively, I can't run boinc on this machine at all. I even tried rebooting then removing the lockfile, to no avail. Any answers? |

kill boinc first, then attach the project And if it still does not work, check file permissions. I installed BOINC into /usr/local/BOINC/ as `root' and did not provide write permission to that directory for the `staff' group where my normal user is member of. With `root' and, and then, after `chmod g+w /usr/local/BOINC/', with normal user, everything works OK. Be sure to remove (or change permissions of) any client_state* and `lockfile' files created by other users before you run `boinc' again. \V/ PointedEars |

kill boinc first, then attach the project It's located in my home folder, and as such, i have read, write, and execute permissions on everything in there. It still won't run. |
