No, so far I have never gotten the optimized clients to work right yet, it seems such a waste when I start to blow through work units that just abend, and the time it takes to fiddle around with it is just way too annoying, at least for me ...

I know, it is supposed to be easy ... I just have not managed the trick of it ...

Maybe, we need the optimizers to build a tool that will be good enough to download the right version and drop it into place ...

i can't build an installer, but:

here is an app_info.xml i used so as not to error out all WUs (i still managed to do so before i edited the file...)
this is for SETI BETA!!!! not for here at regular seti!

[app_info]
    [app]
        [name]setiathome_enhanced[/name]
    [/app]
    [file_info]
        [name]setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe[/name]
        [executable/]
    [/file_info]
    [app_version]
        [app_name]setiathome_enhanced[/app_name]
        [version_num]411[/version_num]
        [file_ref]
            [file_name]setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe[/file_name]
            [main_program/]
        [/file_ref]
    [/app_version]
    [app]
        [name]setiathome[/name]
    [/app]
    [file_info]
        [name]setiathome_4.00_windows_intelx86.exe[/name]
        [executable/]
    [/file_info]
    [app_version]
        [app_name]setiathome_enhanced[/app_name]
        [version_num]400[/version_num]
        [file_ref]
            [file_name]setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe[/file_name]
            [main_program/]
        [/file_ref]
    [/app_version]
[/app_info]

you can also download from http://www.karthwyne.com/app_info.xml (right click, save as..)

those hosting the clients please feel free to include the file, i make no claim to it. and as with all of this, Use at your own risk.

Just wanted to give some numbers in case anyone was curious:

P4 3.6 Prescott HT using "osecw-P" went from 14,500 avg to 5,200 avg
P4 3.0 Nortwood HT using "osecw-N" went from 17,500 avg to 7,400 avg
P4 1.8 Northwood non-HT using "osecw-N" went from 16,100 avg to 7,700 avg
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton using "osecw-K" went from 15,000 avg to 7,600 avg
AMD Athlon 1000 using "osecw-0" went from 30,500 avg to 17,000 avg
P3-800 using "osecw-K" went from 42,500 avg to 21,000 avg

***Note: This is not the reference units. This is looking at a trend in my account history ***

Pretty impressive. Thanks TMR!
