But actually core downloaded beta test's cruncher version 4.00 at first along with WUs on my Windows box. Maybe it's the one "SETI@home Enhanced." (shit, I erased!) On my Linux box, I put my SETI cruncher with app_info.xml and see what happens :) Luckiest in the world. WMD = Weapon of Mass Distraction. Click this table. ![]() |

Tetsuji, that might be counter-productive to the purpose of this beta test project. They want to test their own application code. You're own optimized versions of the Seti applications are great, but probably not appropriate to use on the beta project. :) If it ever goes public, perhaps they'll make the new application source available and you can tweak it 'till the CPU thinks those electrons running through it are greased! ;) |

You're own optimized versions of the Seti applications are great, but probably not appropriate to use on the beta project. :) Now the beta site has 3 kinds of apps (projects). seti@home, seti@home enhanced, and astropulse. I guess at least seti@home should be the same as this original seti@home. And that its version number is 4.10, probably one step advanced version of the official one on this seti@home. So I put seti@home client with app_info.xml with app_name set to setiathome. I hope it won't harm. If the project name isn't setiathome, my computer will simply be rejected. On another Windows box, I don't put anything inside, which means the beta server will decide which project to run on this box. On linux box, I put my seti@home client with app_info.xml, because beta server doesn't have clients for Linux and I'll see what happens. Isn't it a nice idea? Luckiest in the world. The point of the SETI@home/Astropulse beta-test is to test the new science-apps, so don't use app_info.xml if you haven't compiled an Enhanced seti-version. Latest beta-news: June 15, 2005 Results were being sent to the setiathome upload handler. We've fixed the problem and are regenerating work units. You may want to reset your projects. |

(app_info.xml is removed) I copied the same workunit to other two places, and crunching it with the downloaded seti-enhanced cruncher (somehow the name is the same as the original seti) and my seti client so I can compare the results. EDIT: seti_enhanced looks fast. Luckiest in the world. WMD = Weapon of Mass Distraction. Click this table. ![]() |

Well, count me in! I've been waiting to do Astropulse for a long time. When I started Boinc Beta, Astropulse was no longer running and we crunched the new Boinc Seti app only. Got the App and a WU, let's rock and roll! ![]() |

Well, as if I really NEEDED another project to be on... I'm on the Beta Test project now too. (Also, so is my team! I'll get more than one member yet!) At the moment my BOINCing is taking a back seat to crunching Classic in the hopes of getting my 100th wu before the project closes, but, then it'll be full steam ahead. ![]() |

What are the crashcollection and resourcemeasurement projects? Masochistic crunchers want to know... [EDIT Just found out what they are here. Don't appear to be overly science-oriented, nor even ready for prime time, but interesting for the development of BOINC. I think I'll give them a miss.] I still just wanna join LHC! :( ![]() |

Okay, so, now that we have all joined and become User of the Hour and re-created our teams and so on, like happens whenever a new project dares poke its nose out, I suppose I should ask the obvious question: Were we actually MEANT to know about the Beta Test project and sign up en masse? I mean, they don't even have message boards or anything set up there yet. Was this premature, or did word get leaked when it shouldn't have? ![]() |

Were we actually MEANT to know about the Beta Test project and sign up en masse? If it was a restricted signup I think it would've gone the way of Einstein@home where you put yourself on a mailing list and they send you an invite. me@rescam.org |

Perhaps it was not meant to be publicized here, but Eric did ask in the developer mail list for a couple of hundred testers to sign up. He'll probably get that in short order, now that this thread is here. ;) |
