Maybe it was in the process of running Benchmarks. Wait until the Work Unit starts processing then try it again and see what happens. If nothing happens again, then come back to this thread for more help.

I've got the 4.45cvs for linux, everythings works but the button "show graphics" is grey, like nox2d...
I waited until the Work Unit starts processing and it is always grey, desactivated.
Help me.

Thanks a lot !

Okay now I'm thinking that it's a problem with your graphics card. Did you recently update any of your graphics? If so, you may have to go back to your older version, or use an older BOINC/Linux version. Or just re-install BOINC again to see if the graphics will display. Do that first.

I tryed with the package on this site, 4.43, it is the same thing.
seti@home 3.08 works very well with graphics and with the same drivers, but there isn't a gui like boinc_gui.
I have severals libs like OpenGL, GLUT, GLUI, etc...
It is very strange, my friend under windowsXP can see the graphics, but I can't under Linux. :S
Perhaps wait for a new release of BOINC...
My graphic card is a Geforce 6800 GT, (doom3 works very well)last drivers release on nvidia.com.
Do you see the graphics ? With the 4.43 version of BOINC ?
I tested 4.43 too, and that's why I compiled 4.45. But doesn't work too.
If you have any idea, I listen.

Thanks Alex !

To the best of my knowledge, 'show graphics' is not yet supported under Linux.

Your English is very good joachim. The Show Graphics feature should work if your drivers were installed correctly unless the feature is not yet abled on the new Linux version. I only use Linux at work. For SETI, I use the BOINC Windows version and have also had graphics problems with the newer BOINC clients, but that's probably my fault because I didn't install my drivers the right way or messed up the installation somehow. The people I know that use SETI with linux use the command version with no graphics problems. Like Trane indicated, the show graphics feature might not be supported under Linux yet. But I can't see that information posted anywhere at the BOINC download site.

[edit] I just confirmed this, there are no major problems with the new NVIDIA drivers for AMD. Most of the problems are very minor, and they have to do with slight artifacts in certain game graphics. So it's probably a problem with the Linux version or the installation itself [/edit]

I agree with this, the only project that I have actually seen the button "Light up" is under Einstein@Home, it does not however show anything when selected.

I must say that the lack of Linux support surprises me. I mean, the only way I can talk people into joining 'us' is to show them the cool graphics of the 'work units'. Explain what a spike is, and show them what ones are possible contacts.

Without graphics for Linux, this project is on hold for me. Please email me when graphics for the most upcoming OS on the planet is supported.

It's a far cry from the eye candy that's available under that 'other' OS, but the kboincspy program does offer a skymap and a history of results. Like I said, there's nothing too glitzy about it, but it's better than nothing. It works well for me, but then with just a Celeron 1Ghz proc, I've given up on impressing anyone long ago. :)
You can find out more about kboincspy here.

kboincspy also has all the other functionality of boincmgr, so it can be used as a replacement as well.
