Hi, i am a setiathome user since 1999 with more then 24900 completed WU. Now i would like to upgrade all my servers to boinc. But there are so many problems and open questions: - why does it not work if i write the proxyhost and port in the client_state.xml. Only when i use the gui the proxy config was used. - I can not copy and paste the project url and key into the gui window. Where can i write this in the config file? - How can i run more then one client on my 4 and 8 way servers? - How can i configure different options on different servers. The preferences on the boinc website are not client specified! Are the websiteoptions only defaults for the first connect per client? Regards, Thomas |

- why does it not work if i write the proxyhost and port in the client_state.xml. Only when i use the gui the proxy config was used. Not sure, I never use it. You can set environment variables to configure the proxy: http://boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu/client_unix.php - I can not copy and paste the project url and key into the gui window. Where can i write this in the config file? This information is saved in a file. You can create the account... file manually or copy from a running installation. When BOINC starts, it will use the file. - How can i run more then one client on my 4 and 8 way servers? One BOINC instance will start as much SETI@home processes as CPUs are present and as how much of them are configured as max to use. - How can i configure different options on different servers. The preferences on the boinc website are not client specified! Are the websiteoptions only defaults for the first connect per client? The configuration is done for groups (venues). Three are different venues are possible at the moment: "home, school, work" and there is a default configuration. A host is in one of this venue groups and use the configured preferences from the website for this group. Greetings from Bremen/Germany Jens Seidler (TheBigJens) ![]() |
