In the "Projects" tab in the Win32 client there could be a list of all projects using BOINC (centrally distributed from somewhere?). That way people would find BOINC projects that suits them without spending hours searching for them on Google etc...

All the end user would have to do was to right-click on the project and click on the "Web-page" option to register...

Nice idea. However it will not be implemented because it eliminates the project independent nature of BOINC.

I would believe that equal lists on websites are as good to handle as such a register in the GUI.

And lists of BOINC projects are coming soon as they release, i am sure.

I suspect that even if it is not made availabe on the BOINC site that the "other" hobby sites will include it in theirs.

I would like to know if anybody has any idea at all of what is going on with the Boinc Beta Test project which has been turned off for more that 3 weeks now and there is no way to get to their page.

Are they going to reinstall it?

Are we finnally going to have the Astropulse functioning there?

I had to detach from it to avoid so many impossible connections.

Does anybody dare say something about it??????

Have a nice day!

The web sites for Alpha and Beta are off to save bandwidth and computer resources for S@H. These will be selectively turned back on when things need to be tested. For instance Alpha was turned on for a few days to test 3.20.

Subject: RE: [boinc_alpha] URLs for Alpha and Beta.

We brought both of those projects down to reduce load on the database
server.

We are in the process of adjusting the Alpha project to match the same
configuration as the public project. My intention is to introduce BOINC CC
4.0 Server, Client, and SAH 4.0 to the Alpha project today.

Eventually we'll have to get Beta and Alpha running along side of the public
project.

Great idea... One that I would have to agree with... Finding BOINC projects at the moment is a real pain!

Try
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/

Projects
BOINC-based distributed computing projects include:

Climateprediction.net: Improve the accuracy of long-range climate prediction.
LHC@home: Help to build the CERN LHC accelerator.
Predictor@home: Solve biomedical questions of protein-related diseases.
SETI@home: Analyze radio-telescope data, looking for evidence of extraterrestrial life.
Visit any of these sites to download BOINC client software. We encourage you to participate in multiple projects, so that your computer will be kept busy even while projects are down or out of work.
