I have not recieved a single work unit for my computer to work on. I have the Predictor@home also running, but I should at least recieve a Work Unit. Predictor@home is set to run less then Seti@home what's going on? Seti@home = 200 Predictor@home = 100 |

The S@H server has been down. Check the front page for info. Also, if you are running predictor, your low watermark on your cache must be reached before it will even try to get more WUs from the S@H project. <a> |

Surely seti should get WU's whenever it needs it NOT when predictor decides it needs more? DJ |

> Whats the "low Watermark" and where do we set it? You don't set it precisely by its name, but it's the minimum days setting you have set in your preferences on your account. > Surely seti should get WU's whenever it needs it NOT when predictor decides it > needs more? I don't quite follow this analogy. Or it must be that you think BOINC == Seti? It isn't. BOINC is the shell program that runs the other projects. Those projects still work with their own cruncher programs, but through the BOINC shell. What did you set your resource shares for at http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project and at http://predictor.scripps.edu/prefs.php?subset=project ?? Then there's the catch-up part of BOINC. You'll probably see that once the Seti server is back up, BOINC will download Seti units and maybe even only Seti units. That's Seti playing catch-up. As JM7 said it to me on the Predictor forums: If a project has not been handing out WUs recently, or you joined a project recently, expect that project to dominate the work done for a while (up to a month in some cases) to catch up. ---------------------- Jordâ„¢ |

> Seti@home = 200 > Predictor@home = 100 Is that the "resource allocation" you have setup for the two projects? If so, how can Predictor use 100% of your resources yet still allow S@H to use 200%?? In fact, how can S@H use 200%?? MAXIMUM TOTAL = 100%. |

It's only in the BOINC shell it's listed as a percentage. You could set the ratio to 1000 for Seti and 0.0001 to Predictor if you like and Boinc would probobly give Seti 100% and Predictor 0%. |

Well this is set as 0.1 to 0.5 so i guess it should to try DL fairly often. > > Surely seti should get WU's whenever it needs it NOT when predictor > decides it > > needs more? > > I don't quite follow this analogy. Those > projects still work with their own cruncher programs, but through the BOINC > shell. I know that bionic is the program. What i meant that if i've got two projects (which i have) whether one has loads of work units it should not stop the other one from requesting work units. > What did you set your resource shares for at > http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/prefs.php?subset=project and at > http://predictor.scripps.edu/prefs.php?subset=project ?? I've set seti @300% and predictor at 100% (baiscally 75/25 processor split) > > Then there's the catch-up part of BOINC. So I'm assuming that the seti server is down and as soon as it comes back i'll get some units. Because as far as i can see boinc is not even asking seti for units. http://davidjaymz.com |
