I'm trying to run this on a home linux router, just because it has nothing better to do. It's a headless machine, no X system.

Anyway, this sucker is only got 64mb ram. I'm assuming that Boinc is complaining about this fact. Is there a way to configure the program for PCs with little RAM? (Maybe process smaller work units or even use the swap file, which is considerable?)

As I understand it you need a minimum of 64Meg so my guess is it wont work.

Same for me, I'd like to switch a box serving as VNC terminal from Classic to BOINC. It has 45 MB RAM + 95 MB swap (as reported by free -m). However, SETI Classic is running just fine (even with swap disabled), so I suppose SETI/BOINC should be able to work as well?

How much memory does SETI/BOINC require to assign work? I did read Tigher's post, but he doesn't seem sure, and I couldn't find an 'official' number anywhere.
Also, is this requirement actually necessary, or can it be reduced?
Or is there some way to override this and have work assigned anyway?

Hi. I just checked my linux FC3 box. it runs boinc and 2 seti cleints.
Boinc is using 3.8 Meg resident memory and 1.2 Meg shared. Each client is using 16 Meg resident and 1.2 Meg shared. Total about 40 Meg for 2 clients. The numbers vary a little as dynamic allocation takes place by 1/2 Meg but not muchg more. The system is running linux of course plus apache, firewall, smb plus afew other bits but not much else. My guess is still that 64 Meg is the minimum tbh. Hope this helps a little more.
