A problem that has persisted since the Beta (and which I noted back then) is that when a URL or the file cannot be located as specified for a background or logo, the client will insist on trying to retrieve the file even AFTER editing the preferences AND updating the client. The client will update itself, grab the logo / image from the corrected location, but will NOT clear out the old information. Short of resetting the project (which wipes out the work in progress) or manually editing the XML file (with the client shutdown), there is no way to clear it out. It sits in the transfer tab with junk for the percent downloaded status bar (i.e jk7]l%). On this same topic, it would be useful if BOINC checked for a valid URL and issued a warning if it was bad. Also, is there a way to specify a local path to logos/images for those with single or a small number of machines? Sincerest thanks, David Chubrick SETI Tech Desk http://egroups.com/group/SETI_techdesk P.S. ADDENDUM: There is a similar problem if the host server of where the graphics are located does not respond. Right now it reads: -1.#J% for the progress and -0.00 kbps for the speed. The timer is still running though without problems. |
