I know boinc is having problems but one of my machines has be re-assigned a different identity.
I don't know why. I've been waiting for the seti
server to recognize this and allow me to merge the old identity into the new one. How long does it take
before this occurs?

puters are mergable under two conditions:
They have to have the same OS and the same CPU.
Unfortunately that doesn't necessary mean 'in a physical way' but according to the data in the database @Berkeley. And the recognition mechanism has changed somewhere in the 4.1x's.
If it doesn't read the same, it's not the same, a least for the merger (if there is such thing ;)

You will probably have to wait until the results are deleted from the database and delete the puter then. So far you can brag with a bigger farm ;)
