Follwoing the links on the main Seti site, I've now changed my network over to Boinc. However in common with others, I've been unable to connect to the servers to download anything. (I assume that I'm not having a proxy issue....) Rather than having everything idle here, is ther some other project I can run with the Boinc software while Seti get their act together? Regards Nick (UK) |

Their site seems to be stable and is giving out work quite well. Most of the work units are pretty small (most run in a little less time than an average seti unit). Signing up and getting started is just like seti, so you can be going in just a minute or two. |

Nick, Try Predictor@home: http://predictor.scripps.edu/ I've been on it since the first major SETI@home work unit shortage. The user base is small and the project is still in alpha from what I understand, but their site is constantly updated and the research they're doing seems to have very practical uses. I already have 738.1 credits with Predictor which I've gotten over the past 7 days. As opposed to the 1353.36 credits I've gotten from SETI over the past two weeks. Things to note: Predictor doesn't have any graphics. Their client doesn't update the progress bar too often, but I think it's worth trying. |

Thanks I've connected to Predictor & have my whole network running it now. After a day, BOINC seems to be running correctly on both HT processor threads now. I'm pretty happy with BOINC so far, apart from the unnecessary icon indicator (blue exclamation) every time BOINC does something. Is Seti & Predictor the only projects using BOINC right now? |

> Is Seti & Predictor the only projects using BOINC right now? Currently the only publicly active projects, yes. There is also the invitation only Alpha test, and the BOINC beta test. (beta is turned off at the moment) There is another project in very limited beta, and Astropulse beta is indicated to be starting up again soon. <a> |

Thanks Any suggestions about thei blue exclamation icon thing? It's getting annoying as I keep thinking that something's wrong. |

They have made it so it stops flashing after a few seconds. You'll know if there's a problem, because the icon turns red. <a> |
