Things are looking good for both my ATI 5600 series and 5700 series cards. Since the backend change all of them have completed and a few have validated. Validated against both ATI and CUDA cards. None have been matched with a finished CPU task, yet.

To show that I haven't given up on Beta, I'm now at 100% on Beta with three out of four computers, and at 50% on the fourth and slowest one, just to keep enough RAC on main to be able to post on the message board at main.

Beat that folks. Forget about credit on main for a while, and concentrate on getting Beta apps ready for main.

The more failures (or results in general) Eric gets here, the easier it is for him to pin down the bugs.

Good plan. I'll try to reboot my OSX vm this weekend and see what I can do.

Ok will pay more attention to the project and will flush other project GPU work when this comes out.

Awesome! Can't wait! Quick question, what is the minimum GPU memory requirement?

I think most people were running successfully at 512MB or so.
The GT-120 might run but the HD6950 should definitely work.

It's 256MB in the Windows GPU apps, so I assume the MacOS will be similar.

Eric, any news about all those WUs that errored out and are now just sitting there contemplating the Universe? I mean is there any plan to grant some credit?

Oh, and sort of unrelated: does this seem fair to you?
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=3981521
I thought I had it rough until I saw the poor wingman with 160,655.55 seconds on CPU and about the same for GPU and just 779 credits...

The wingmate's task was done with the CPU app, run time in line with the host's other CPU tasks considering it was 89.5% blanked. The 779 credits make sense since the extra ~2 hours to generate blanking data is a small fraction of the run time for CPU tasks. That extra time to generate the blanking data makes a large difference on GPU tasks, though.

I would also mention this:
http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/beta/workunit.php?wuid=4012520

In the words of the great wise man Elmer Fudd: there's somethin' awfully screwy goin' on around here...

Cheers!

The BOINC client will abort any task which hasn't started before deadline, and under some circumstances BOINC will get more work than a host can do within deadline. That host may very well be doing multiple projects and have a small resource share here.
                                                                  Joe

Hey Joe,

Thanks for trying to help, but I think you missed the point there, with your explanations. The thing is that I have gotten far too few credits on such a large amount of processing time whilst other WUs with less processing time got better (fairer) compensation.

Also, again, Eric, any news about what will happen to the 100+ WUs that I have on "Error while computing"? I mean, will there be any credits awarded for those or, as someone here said, I have just burned my card for nothing?

Cheers!

Eric, can we use anonymous platform again here?
It's much easier to get AP tasks here than on main so I prefer to use SETI beta for collecting real-life AP tasks statistics, but I need to run few apps at once for it, I'm done already with single instance and single instance is the only I can get via stock...

Hi Eric, one last feeble attempt: what about the units that went down the "error while computing" drain?

It's Beta, don't expect any credits. Credit on Beta is uncertain, and when given should be considered a bonus.

Look at Beta as charity work. :-)

Edit: And you haven't burned the GPU for nothing. You've helped Eric to pin down the error, by producing errors that he can look at, and find the reason. That's what Beta is all about, isn't it?

This excellent post by Winterknight gives the gist of Beta testing, see the bit about Credit being awarded.

Since you put it that way, yes, it makes sense. Too bad it didn't come from Eric. Don't mean to be paranoid, but I think he's ignoring this type of queries...

Cheers!

And I would say it's good if yes. Keeping in mind how undermanned project is....

It seems a script has been run to grant 700 credits for those killed tasks, the handfull of "Completed, Can't Validate" tasks like 4070542 I had also got 700.
