Well... well... well...

This warmer weather showed up an irritating deficiency in some Chinese supplied communications kit... The power supply voltage 'appeared' to be ever more greatly afflicted by increasing ambient temperature to the point that one of our comms links was dropping out with errors.

And the fix?...

Some cursing for debug and checks and... Adding much improved decoupling capacitors and a bulk smoothing capacitor onto the afflicted circuit board. All is now running much more smoothly, literally!

Why oh why cripple the kit for the sake of insignificant pennies for the lack of full-spec components?!

(Then again... Why did we buy that Chinese sourced kit?...)

Why - because the initial cost is lower, and so shows the job was delivered on time & budget. With no regard to the fact that the repair & maintenance cost will be over budget.

Posting on a frosty Saturday morning on top of this big hill where it's -3C (feels like -6C) with 13C being expected.

I have no idea on what I'm going to do today, but something may come to mind eventually.

Anyhow it must be time for a coffee.

Cheers.

Amazing how well full spec components work and how good are the full spec margins!

Great shame how greed goes so badly unnecessarily shoddy...

Enjoy!

The west coast of northern California is seeing unusual weather patterns. Reno, one of the dryer spots on the planet has been getting regular rain, and down where I am in the California delta we have been having a spring pattern. Lows in the 50s and highs in the low 80s Last year we were having highs in the 100s.

Tomorrow I am going rafting on the American River which is still having record flows. Last year it was nearly dry. I love it. But I see other places are getting our normal warmer weather. Sorry guys.

Their way of doing things just means better job security for you M1.
My dad talked about a place he once worked. A contract bid was issued for mobile communications and safety gear. The competition low balled a contract bid with cheaper components and hardware. Versus the higher quality components, hardware and higher contract bid. The contract was awarded to the higher bidder because of not wanting to cut corners and cheap it out.

That's ok Carlos.

Here in the desert outside of Barstow CA it'll be 100F today, current temp is 94, the low? 71. There is a 1% chance of rain, humidity outside is 20%, inside humidity is 26% and the temp is 84 at my desk, I have a floor fan on full power in my bedroom and in the living room, elsewhere the temp is 82 in my home.

It's currently 104 in Death Valley CA, 108/82 and 16%, now that is pretty hot.

The sun finally decided shine here and as the temp now rises I'm preparing myself to bring my trailer back home (via the tip) after it has spent a couple of weeks at a friends place (I borrowed an old ute to do my 4 recent tip runs).

Anyhow I better get back to my preparations.

Cheers.

The a/c is on full, fan at max, dry mode is off.

101 on the 26th and 27th, the 26th & 27th had been 102 & 104, currently it's 88F outside with a high today of 96 predicted and it's currently 80 at my desk.

Summer is here, plus Grace is 15yrs old now and is on my left shoulder.
