it may be short before the hibernation, but I very much would like to solve this (maybe this is even more reason to solve it, because otherwise my computer wii be the reason for deadline not hitting and resending of tasks as lat of May ....)

For some reason, after a restart, BOINC Client lost the attachement to the Seti@home project. I am not entirely sure how it happened, all I know is that I have been moving SATA and connections M2 connections around while my computer was shut down - however this should'nt be the reason as drive C stays drive C and all Boinc files were still in C:\ProgramData\BOINC.

Anyway, I attached Seti@Home again. However now it won't download any tasks. Scheduler obviously won't give me new tasks. because I already have enough (on server side). However, the boinc client won't download my old tasks either.

Is there any way to either resync my client with the Server again, so it can download all old tasks again, or alternatively, to mark all open tasks as invalid on the server, so I can get new ones?

I already tried detaching and reattaching the project or resetting the project, however none of these steps did achieve the desired result. I still have a lot of tasks in progress from before it happened in the website, and the Boinv client still does not download anything.

Did you tried the ghost recovery protocol? That does exactly what you ask.

Thanks for the link, but somehow I can't seem to find the instructions in the thread.

First message says: "Thanks for this! The procedure seems clear and I tried it..." as if the thread started somewhere with the instructions. Indeed it says that the first message is answer to message 1992449.

Thx for the help all, but the problem eventually resolved itself over time. Maybe this was eventually fixed at server side, to avoid long wait times for resends.

I wanted to wait for enough tasks to follow the instructions how to restore ghost tasks as described above. On the next morning, I saw that my computer was happily processing 150 task for CPU and GPU again.

Looking at my computer side, I found to my astonishement that there are listed 298 tasks in error state, with status abandoned:

Upon closer examination, these all show reported timestamps 16 Mar 2020, 18:44:59 UTC.

This is odd, because it was a long time before I wrote the original post. The tasks were definitely "in progress" at this time on the webpage at the time I wrote the post and he scheduler won't give me anything.

I examined my boinc logs to find out what happened at this point of time, to find what triggered this (I need to add 1 hour, because my local timezone without DST is UTC+1). And I found this:

It is exactly the point of time, when I first attached the project after my Client somehow lost it!

So, it seems if the scheduler receives a project initialization request from a client that still has in progress tasks, appearantly there will be took notice on server side. Eventually, all tasks from before the initialization requests will be marked as abandoned - the process just may take several hours, maybe there is even some kind of scheduler that just does this once a day.

TL;DR: If you run into same problem before hibernation, no need to do anything. Just attach Seti@home again and be patient. Eventually all old tasks will go to abandoned state and you get new ones.
