If AGELESS sees this, I thank-u in advance for ur help!!!

After harassing Dr A Anderson several days — using the URL I always use for SETI, NEVER relaizing I was on BOINC — now I can post my latest, unique gifts courtesy of MS & WIN10, et al.

I had to REinstall BOINC MGR which segued into a few new wrinkles, viz., :

NOW when BOINC "starts-up from the START menu, it NO LONGER connects to client automatically. I must follow FILE > SELECT COMPUTER; choose among a plethora of incomplete HOST NAMEs - as if it were a string - which FILLS the PW field with a ridiculous number of " **** " then BOINC instantly connects to client [correct client]

NOW, in lieu of displaying, merely, "CONNECTED to host 7.8.3, it says "CONNECTED TO WRIGHT-WF3W-1- ----- and what ever PARTIAL HOST NAME I only had to enter to complete the connection

BEFORE Feb, this instant, I was running 4 tasks simultaneously, LOVING the way my score & avg JUMPED! NOW, only 1 task will run - with or without GPU.

Am I correct "thinking" GPU activity holds sway when the system suspends any activity, regardless of how many tasks COULD b running, with or WITHOUT GPU processing? I have a DELL Inspiron 5459, Intel i7[2.8GHz), 12GB RAM. Is "adding" GPU soooo MORE resource-intensive, it is NORMAL for a system configuration as mine, to S L O W W A Y D O W N necessitating suspension of GPU processing?

Does sans-GPU processing preclude NON-GPU processing of tasks????

When I disable SUSPEND GPU WHEN COMPUTER IN USE, the STATUS field in TASKS says "RUNNING/Ready to Start (0.0049 CPUs + 1 Intel GPU". Tasks now keep running while I use my system. Does "+ GPU" mean GPU IS being used as I work at the computer or, merely, "ya know, it's there but since it mangles system performance, we're keeping it to a low profile {throttled-down}"?

Is it possible, with my system, to finesse "computing preferences" to sum limit of GPU processing - not just in how many minutes to suspend GPU - without so devastating a diminution of performance?

Cud I eschew use of GPU, have SETI/BOINC running in the background, leave my computer on for protracted intervals - say, overnite now & then - and acquire as much TOTAL processing, as displayed in STATISTICS, USER TOTAL & AVERAGE?

TNX agn for ur rescue - no matter which S&R team u belong!

I've noticed I have been asked by name in this thread, but won't be helping out as the style of posting irritates me so much, I am not able to get past the first two paragraphs. If you want my help, please repost and do so in a normal style, without switching between lower and upper caps. Else I hope someone else with more patience than me is able to figure out what you asked and give you a satisfying answer.

when boinc "starts-up from the start menu, it no longer connects to client automatically.

i must follow file > select computer and choose among host names after which boinc connects to the correct client.

in lieu of displaying "connected to host 7.8.3", it says "connected to wright-wf3w-1". This works with only a partial name input.

before February, I was running 4 tasks simultaneously. only 1 task will run now - with or without gpu.

am I correct gpu activity controls when the system suspends any activity, regardless of how many tasks could b running, with or WITHOUT gpu processing? I have a DELL Inspiron 5459, Intel i7[2.8GHz), 12GB RAM. Is "adding" gpu processing more resource-intensive, that it slows-down system speed necessitating suspension of gpu processing?

does not using gpu processing prevent non-gpu processing of tasks?

when I suspend-gpu-when-computer-in-use, the status field in tasks says "running/Ready to Start (0.0049 CPUs + 1 Intel gpu". Do tasks continue running while I use my system, with this status?

is it possible to choose "computing preferences" that limit gpu processing - without specifying how many minutes to suspend gpu - without limiting performance?

Is it possible to eliminate gpu processing, have seti/boinc running in the background, leave my computer on overnite and acquire as much total processing, as displayed in stats, displaying user total and user average?
