What is the opposite of centralised power? Freedom, or anarchy? Or both? |

OK, a practical question for you. Who's going to fix the NY City subway? Individual freedom? Anarchy? A centralised ...? Fill in the dots. I'll accept 'organisation', if you don't like 'power'. |

Can the MTA compulsorily purchase land, property, stop up streets? If so, under what authority? Who gave them that authority? If not, how would they obtain a wayleave for a new line, against the wishes of the current freedom-loving occupier? (Our opponents of HS2 might like to know the American answer to that one - I'm using terminology from British law) |

OK, so you'll be walking to work, then? Or taking a bucket and shovel to build your own road to drive your home-built car along, using home-distilled fuel? Too late in the evening here - I'm off to bed. No hurry to reply. |

BTW I forgot: Welcome to the Politics Forum. Or is it welcome back?I dip in occasionally, when somebody in power winds me up by calling me a liar. But once I've let off steam, and found that nobody is listening, or, worse, they're not thinking through the ramifications of what they're saying, I dip out again. |

If somebody, in "power" or not, winds me up badly enough I don't let off steam, I put them on my to deal with list. I'll get them back even if it takes 2 or 3 years...In this particular case, I have earned some power too. I've already issued the written instruction that the work has to be redone, correctly this time: I will be speaking directly with the individual concerned in the next week or two to explain just how his words were 'fake news'. That's all that's needed, and it won't take more than a couple of weeks at max. Like Clyde, I view these boards as a diversion, and teasing him gently for an hour or so before bedtime relaxed me enough to get a good night's sleep. ... same single lonely 60 years olds spamming.I'm 65 now Chris, you'll have to update your records ;) |

Some people's idea of teasing is actually provocation. That itself is not intellectually smart. |

Similar to "make one's bed and lie in it". ... |
