Not specifically trade war, but thought you might like to know that the UK, shortly to be followed by the EU, has put a tax of 2% on all, mainly US, companies with global sales of more than £500m.

So much for Fiduciary Duty.

"They have to return money to their investors," said Mr Cooke. "That's not looking very likely. Frankly, the centres are either going to have to be sold at a lower price or have capital injected in order to regenerate and we don't see banks having an appetite for that."

Trade not looking good

Banks only like running Ponzi schemes.

Just as bad in the States as well. Who'd thought that. :-)

No. The trade war is still here. I guess we will learn more in some weeks when Trump will meet Xi Jinping at the G20 summit.

The outcome of Tuesday's U.S. midterm election is unlikely to change Washington's trade war with Beijing.
Both Democrats and Republicans support a tougher stance on Chinese trade and intellectual property practices.
"It's going to be the same, if not worse, in terms of U.S.-China," said Steven Okun of McLarty Associates.

A potential turning point is coming at the end of this month, when the president is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Group of 20 summit in Argentina.
Perhaps Trump will fall in love with Xi just as he did with Kim Jong-un.
Trump's voice after the meeting "It was a terrific meeting with Xi. Great guy. And we now have a tremendous deal with China".

Trump wants fair trade?
But it's in telecoms network equipment, which forms the largest part of Huawei's business, that Washington's opposition to the firm is having its greatest impact.
The US has banned the use of Huawei equipment in communications networks, warning of security risks and has called for other governments to follow suit.
National security trumps trade
Hmm, where have we heard that before?
