How can I set a schedule for s@h, separately from my global prefs? Is there a formula to put in cc_config.xml? Having s@h run all the time overtaxes my box's cooling system; the GPU runs at ~85C and causes the case fans to ... howl - that's the only word I can come up with. This AMD WX 5100 GPU gets through an average work unit in 15 minutes; if I could reduce the load somehow I think I'd prolong the life of the cooling system, not to mention my hearing. Rgds Peter. |

@ PRHumphrey: ... if I could reduce the load somehow ... You can install a temperature monitoring program to have it cycle on and off to keep the temps at whatever is comfortable to your ears. The one I use (and there are others) is TThrottle from https://efmer.com. |

That one is for Windows. All my machines run Gentoo Linux. Nice idea, though - I'll go a-hunting. Thanks. Rgds Peter. |
