BEIJING (AP) -- China on Tuesday characterized its mass internment of Muslims as a push to bring into the "modern, civilized" world a destitute people who are easily led astray — a depiction that analysts said bore troubling colonial overtones.
About 1 million Uighurs, Kazakhs and other minorities have been arbitrarily detained in mass internment camps in China's far west Xinjiang region, according to estimates by a U.N. panel. Former detainees say they were forced to disavow their Islamic beliefs in the camps, while children of detainees are being placed in dozens of orphanages across the region.

In the US that's called "War on Terror" or "Illegal Immigrants".

No it is not. We now place millions of Americans and Legal Aliens in Concentration Camps?
Yes, we did that to Americans of Japanese decent during WW2. As with Scandinavian's terrorizing many with their invasions of other peoples and countries in the past.
That was then and the Chinese are, as we and Scandinavians were back when. The Capitalist Chinese Ruling Class deserves to disgust of all civilized people.
There is a Swedish saying "Att sopa rent framför egen dörr".
Roughly translate to "Sweeping clean in front of your own door" and usually is a splendid way to tell you to take your own action first before attacking others.
Is it fair to call the US’s migrant child detention centers “concentration camps”?

Does size matter?

As for Scandinavian terrorism:)

Yes. That was about 1000 years ago when Vikings explored Europe, North America, North Africa and the Middle East.
Hmm... That sounds very like to what some countries does even today...

But you are assuming that all people living in China are Chinese citizens.
Are minorities living in China Chinese citizens in it's true meaning?
Have you forgot that in China there is no such thing as "Human Rights"?
Unless you are Chinese tourist travelling abroad of course:)

And a million citizens in China is about 0.07% of their population.
Compare that to US incarceration that is 0.7% of their population.

Never equate China's imprisoning over 1 million innocents because of their Religion. With attempting to stop illegal immigration into a sovereign country.

Why not, surely in many cases, those described as illegal immigrants, are just innocents who have nowhere else to go.

BTW: In one respect you are correct, China is an Empire. With the Han Chinese, using fear and terror, controlling and ruling over all the other groups.
Correct.

D&G posted three videos this week of a Chinese model eating Italian foods like pizza and pasta with chopsticks.
So what. China is not exactly wellknown to respect ethnic groups and human rights.
And for that matter I have seen Chinese people here eating pasta with chopsticks many times.
Hmm. Spaghetti is a Chinese invention btw.

Q: Why is China having final say over mergers of American companies? A: Trump MAGA!
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-china-regulator-utc/utc-gets-chinese-nod-for-rockwell-collins-purchase-deal-set-to-close-idUSKCN1NS1CM
(Reuters) - United Technologies Corp on Friday received Chinese regulatory approval for its $30 billion purchase of aircraft parts maker Rockwell Collins Inc, clearing the final hurdle to complete the largest aerospace deal in history.

The conditional approval for the deal between the two American industrial heavyweights comes during a period of escalating trade tensions between China and the United States.

The dispute between the world’s two largest economies had fanned concerns among UTC shareholders that the merger could fall victim to the growing tensions.

UTC said on Friday the transaction should close within three business days. Last month the company had already expressed confidence of securing Chinese approval for the deal.

China requires both UTC and Rockwell to dispose certain assets, and regulators also specified requirements related to the supply of aircraft components in the country, a statement by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation showed. The market regulator oversees anti-monopoly issues.

Connecticut-based UTC, which makes Pratt & Whitney jet engines, Otis elevators and various aircraft components, is hoping Rockwell will give it more leverage against aircraft makers, which are negotiating for price cuts. UTC’s customers include Boeing, Airbus and Bombardier.

Meanwhile, other major American mergers have run into trouble with Chinese regulators in the backdrop of the trade dispute, the latest being Qualcomm Inc’s failed attempt to buy NXP Semiconductors NV.

Dear Gary,

Your noting that Capitalist China is no different than the right wingnuts, is refreshing.

How should the world respond to the Right Wingnut Beliefs of Economically and Military Expanding Capitalist China?

Should is future tense, the expansion is past tense.

Since Communist China has expanded, the world has responded by purchasing lube for their reaming, while China still allows them to purchase Saudi oil.

You now should ask yourself, a vociferous pro-***** supporter, how that fits in with green energy and global warming.

I think it was the Vikings more than 1000 years ago who started the trend:)

Let's also not forget all the empires of the past.
None which were truly global. The only one ever to come close to it, was the Mongol Empire.

Bzzzt....

The Mongol Empire peaked at 24,000,000 km² in a horizontal swath of Eurasia only. The British Empire was the largest ever at peak 35,500,000 km² in every continent except Antarctica.

What have the size of an empire to do with globalism?
To me globalism is how you manage trade at our globe, Earth.
As for the Vikings, 300,000 thousands people at the time living in a very small area in Scandinavia, managed to trade all over Europe, North Africa, the Middle East and even explored North America.

The British did not just explore North America. They colonized/conquered and brought much of North America into the first Global Trading System/Imperialism in human history.
How about China and the Silk Road?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road

It was very much a Global Trading System.
The Silk Road derives its name from the lucrative trade in silk carried out along its length, beginning in the Han dynasty (207 BCE–220 CE).
And now China is rebuilding the concept.
