I'm happy to hear that Elaine Chao is providing counsel to Trump. I met her when she was Secretary of Labor, and I initially thought she was not a polite person, but that's exactly what Trump needs.

I'm guessing that she only got the job to curry favor with Mitch McConnell who has been somewhat critical of TRump.

I would say that she was forced on him by several other high ups in the Republican Party as a leash.

Mitch McConnell has said some nasty things about TRump in the past
and now Mitch's wife is basically spewing the TRump doctrine.

Is she? I'd be surprised if she sold out that easily. I respect her and Mitch even if I don't agree with them on everything.

As a side anecdote, several years ago, they came into the photography store I worked in, and asked for their camera to be repaired. Mitch pretty much left Elaine to do the talking, and she threw around her Secretary of Labor title as if she deserved expedited service. She could have just been joking, but they used to bring their film into the same store occasionally, and she always carried a rather haughty air. I don't fault her for that really; I actually just think she was being direct and no-nonsense, and Trump needs someone like that at the Cabinet table, who isn't afraid to speak her mind.
