Message 1855291 - Posted: 13 Mar 2017, 14:55:16 UTC - in response to Message 1855287.

Scottish independence: Nicola Sturgeon to seek second referendum

Interesting...

Scotland to exercise its democratic right of self-determination to leave one 'super-state' (the UK) so that it can remain in another 'super-state' (the EU) after the first one voted (Brexit) to leave the second one (EU). It is the decision of the people of Scotland. Let their will be done.

Nations, especially the 'super-powers' (USA, PRC, Russia) and the wannabes (EU, India, etc.), are becoming too big... too powerful... in my opinion.

It would be better for everyone (again, in my opinion) to break them up.

We have Brexit (if the UK Parliament ever gets off of its backside, and implements the will of the people as expressed in their referendum).

Let there be (if the People so will) Scottish Independence, Texit, Calexit, and a host of others. Government needs to be a LOT less global and a LOT more local, in my opinion.

Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016.

Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power.

We actually don't mind just using the flag of St George and it will save the English a fortune in not subsidising the Celts.

Umm Clyde why does academia still think people are so dumb as to not know that use of politeness is the worse curse of all as it was designed to talk down to people as in , "One can not be seen talking to the lower classes so one must keep ones composure at all times ." :)

Mark Stevenson...

One day, you will understand how wrong your are. Unless your continous use of misspelled curses, precludes that.

Or as we used to say in Academia. Only (fill-in the blank) persons need to curse in any discussion.

BTW: The 'fill-in the blank' is not a curse. Even a misspelled curse.

Clyde,

A positive correlation between use of profanity and honesty has been found.

Let's see Clyde i've got relations in the US my Uncle married my Aunt when he was based at the " Twins" ( RAF Woodbridge / Bentwaters ) bases 4 / 5 miles away from where i live ( mid 70's 81st TFW) and i've lived here my whole life 43 years , Don't you talk to me like i'm a kid matey
ohh my Uncle is a " red indian" you know he's got more "right " to be there than you have !! and we do talk on the phone / skype etc so do know what's going on in each others countries and we "hear / see" more news about America than your "blinkerd " media show you !!

America ain't the " center" of the world and definatly " not the greatest cuntry" either , don't worry i know Gt Britain ain't no where near perfect and we have our own problems ( ain't even thinking about you lot over here , RAF Lakenheath , Mildenhall MEMWORTH HILL , FYLINGDALES to name but a few !! ).
Least Gt Britain DID have a Empire in the PAST , ( shame we "sold out" to you "septic tanks" "special ( one f-ing side ed ) relationship ain't worth the paper it's written on and i would use it as toiley paper to wipe my stink hole after a Vindaloo :-) ) What have you got apart from over 1/2 the world hating your country

Now a couple of people who post " know me " fairly well and one of them definatly ain't you " Cartmman " so stop trying to work out my thinking and my feelings about subjects coz you can't . T.F.Y that's you and " fits" a couple of other posters completly :-)

BTW feckin ain't mis spelt it was used in " Farther Ted " a lot , TV series about 3 priests that lived on Craggy Island and their adventures ran for 3 series and 1 chrismas special ( with the largest lengare dpt in Ireland ;-) ) .
Just the same as " frackin" as used in BSG

I've got my GCSE's grades a-c and even got a HNC in Engineering and Fabrication so i know about academia and ain't stupid , btw what's your quallys in ? Media , studies , arts & Crafts you know them real useful subjects or " how to acert my authority , but only think i got any coz i've got a gun" ;-)Life is what you make of it :-)

Mr Culture ("arse!") has likely never heard ("girls!"), nor seen ("drink!"), Father Ted ("feck!"), which is his loss. As for complaining about misspelling, it might be a bit rich coming from a person who chooses to employ an unusual approach to capitalization and punctuation, and who generally uses the word "ascertain" when it's more than likely the intended word is "assert". But hey, on the plus side, at least you're not being dismissed as part of the "Left".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VI-WRb2u4po,
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

The fancy word for it is called Colloquialism:)
A living language used in everyday life often private conversations between people, and rarely contain technical terms, and advanced grammar.
The everyday speech is characterized by light-hearted and vague formulations.

Agree. Mark has no arguments left regarding the subject. He is just using these words. As if we are ten year olds in the school grounds. Or perhaps, drinking buddy's in our neighborhood bar.

These Threads are neither of those locations.

You sure about that? From all your posts, it seems that's where you are.
