Thinking something may be wrong with my computer lately and as much as I tried to resist it, since the relevant parts are under warranty and they were purchased from the same shop I was planning to take the whole thing (minus HDD, not handing over data and would also rule out any software issue if they can replicate any of the rest) to be diagnosed, so stopped getting new tasks a few days ago, but this evening I noticed I won't have enough till tomorrow afternoon when I was thinking of doing that, so let it download a few more. And it got 11 Arecibo vlars... which all immediately overflowed out when it got to them. Mostly 30 autocorrs, but also see 28 autocorrs and 2 pulses or 24 spikes and 6 pulses.
Currently just one also had a wingman result and matched. Worried that the rest may be issues on my end, and would be something useful to know and need to tell if I will take this tomorrow.

So can there be an overflowing batch like this, all of them one after the other? Something known around this time? Or...

PS: Seems like they were all processed on the same core, seeing as the last older WU finished after them, so the other core was used for that.

Yes, it can happen that all tasks in a batch overflow. The simplest way to check if it's genuine is to see what happens to your 'wingmates' - the second user given an identical copy of the task.

I see that you had a batch of 11 tasks issued at 18 Sep 2016, 17:54:13 UTC: of those, 7 have been validated already, and four are still waiting. None have been marked as error, invalid, or even inconclusive.

I'd say the overflows are genuine, and nothing to worry about. Your computer has been returning normal runtimes since then, so I'd say it's fine to carry on as normal.

Thanks. Yes, noticed most had validated by now, but wanted to ask quickly so I'd have a better chance at a reply before I'll need it (which is about now) in case wingmen won't get to others by then.

Wow, quite a pile.

Computer in shop now, hopped back on the old one (sitting in a corner since spring of 2015) and while trying to see an opportunity in the problem, threw Mint on it... And I sure got a pile of overflows. But nearly all had names starting with 15fe16ac.6982 (in fact identical even further), plus two 15fe16ae.701 and maybe one other (from same date) I missed. And so far all that had wingman results validated, so sure was a noisy (?) batch there.
