This thread is intended to be a repository for discussion on the nVidia & AMD competition.  It'll be more generalized than GPU Wars 2016: GTX 1060 July 19th, in the sense that it won't be limited to a specific card.  And with that, let the games begin... Alleged Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti specifications leak online For historical perspective: Six Generations of $200 Radeon GPUs Compared *EDIT*  add NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 10-Series for Notebooks |

Saw that last night. Probably around Jan 2017. It's curious that they would opt for lower stock speed and boost speed compared to a standard 1080. I have to wonder about them saying they will use stand DDR5 rather than DDR5X. I've seen another article that say they will use the DDR5X. It wouldn't make sense to make an 1080Ti that's slower in both terms of RAM and Stock Clock speeds compared to the base model. I think we will have to wait for the actual reviews of it. I would think they would be need to be higher speeds and built on a better platform like the FTW with 2 8 pins power supply. Either way, I want the hybrid version, lol... |

The GTX 1060 (6GB) nearly matches the performance of the GTX 980, and with a 27% reduction in power consumption (120W v 165W).  I'm curious if there will be a 1060 Ti, or 1050 Ti. |

Jayztwocents, thinks the GTX 1060 3 GB should have been branded as the 1050. Interesting... Guess we will have to wait and see |

AMD Vega 10 scores 24 TFlops
>Â Â " you can expect as much as 24 TFlops of half precision performance and 12 TFlops of single precision performance. Â Â Â Â Â Â Both . . . are higher than Nvidia scores with Pascal P100." >Â Â "The Vega 10 comes with 16GB HBM 2 memory."
>Â Â "Apart from the clocks and memory size, we have almost identical specs to GTX 950" >Â Â "According to the information provided by the leaker, GeForce GTX 1050 should be expected mid-October." |

Looks like its beyond the rumour stage.
►  Rumours of both a GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti for October

AMD rumoured to be revising Polaris
»  "They should be out under RX 4XX branding in a few months . . ." [EDIT, add]
»  "The GTX 1050 non-Ti will feature 640 CUDA cores and 2GB GDDR5 memory, while TDP will be the same as Ti’s model — 75W." |

AMD rumoured to be revising Polaris I was just thinking of replacing the old HD6870 in my HTPC with a RX 460, but maybe I'll hold off for a bit now. SETI@home classic workunits: 93,865 CPU time: 863,447 hours Join the [url=http://tinyurl.com/8y46zvu]BP6/VP6 User Group[ |

NVIDIA's Killer GeForce GTX 1080 Ti To Make A CES Debut?

I'd have though it'd be pretty much the Titan X, just with lower clock speeds & less RAM. Either way, it's going to have an excessive price tag. Grant Darwin NT |

Can confirm as of a short time ago, the 1050ti is 'really nice' for the older system upgrade, or budget cruncher. At least the Gigabyte G1 gaming version I received this morning. Looks like I'll be running a bit cooler (and quieter) for the coming aussie summer. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. I just ordered a 1050 TI to put it in the place of a GTX 750 OC, which is performing well. I plan to insert it in a 64-Bit Linux workstation, a 2008 vintage SUN which now has a HD 7770, also performing well in both SETI and Einstein. Tullio |

looking at what I'm seeing so far, something about half a GTX 980 in throughput for about a quarter the power. The fans are alternating between 0rpm (off) and ~1000rpm and remarkably quiet. Driving 2 1080p displays while crunching and watching twitch streams no problems (win7, old core2duo host). "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. I recently got a Skylake-based host to help Raistmer test out the iGPU problems, and once we'd sorted that out, I dropped in a 1050Ti - 'Asus Expedition', designed for non-stop use (dual ball-bearing fans). It's running GPUGrid cuda 8.0 jobs at the moment, until there are SETI apps which can make use of 4 GB of VRAM - but the CPU is knocking through BLC VLARs in well under an hour. Host 8121358 The whole system is typically drawing around 120W from the wall at full load - sometimes up to 130W if GPUGrid sends out a particularly intensive task. And the whole rig is almost completely silent - I have to put it in a room with no other noise source and shut the door to be able to tell it's running by sound alone. |

It's going to be interesting trying to palm off some of my old hardware to make room for the niceness. lol. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. Nice, new toy, now you could build a new 10x0 target app. LOL |

Nice, new toy, now you could build a new 10x0 target app. LOL Built a new 10x0 target app months ago. Possibly just turns out my crap hardware is too hammered. Will see what the inconclusives do with the new board. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all.
