I've always enjoyed Steve Goodman's body of work, along the same lines is Todd Snider........

And I did not know until just now when I saw the clip, that Chris Eldridge, son of Ben Eldridge, was in the band 'Punch Brothers'.

I have listened to their music many times. Happy to know of this tie-in with the Seldom Scene.
