I know, you are dreading this....LOL.
But, here we go.

I have been downloading tunes for my iPod to take to work during my OT stints.

And I find a few things to be wonderful.
Dunno if I can find them again to present here, but I'll try.

I get some looks at work for the tunes coming out of my Marshall Kilburn at full bore at times, because I play things that the younger generation has never known.
And at the same time, I can kick in with some things they are well familiar with.

Most of them have never heard Les Paul and Mary Ford, but when they hear it, they ask who that was, because, I believe, the music is so enchanting to listen to.

There are things I load on the iPod and then discard, because as I listen to them I think they are just not OK for the venue at work...such as Hoyt Axton's 'I am a good old rebel'...great tune, but if the wrong person were to hear it and misinterpret it as my personal thoughts........OH BOY, because as you know PCism is so rampant these days.

A gal walked by this afternoon when I was jiving to 'Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy' by the Andrews Sisters......
She stops and smiles...she is about twenty.
She says..and WHO did that remake?? I told her it was the original recording, from back in my day. She responded, I didn't think you guys were still alive.........LOL.
She asked if she could synch her iPod with my iPod.......
That's NOT like asking you out for a date...LOL.
What I appreciated was that I think she was really interested in the music.
I think we may be sharing some things.

So, here we go, as is, where is.
I get inspirations, and then my memory fails me and I go flat. Flat, not flatulent.
I've got 17 hours or so loaded on the iPod, and it tells me I have used about 13Gb out of 120Gb or so....this is a great toy.

Have fun, and if you wish to contribute, please do.

Meow and away.........

This is the Hoyt Axton song I referred to.....
Please do not raise alarm, I do not adhere to his opinions.
I simply think it's a great old song.

I remember hearing it from long ago.

I'm a good old Rebel.

And here is the recording that caught that twenty year old's attention today.
Boogie Woogie..
The sound quality is good enough that through my little box, she really did think that it was a reamake.

Then I played her this tune.......and told her this was just within the last year or two...

She listened intently...and said 'You sure about that?'
I said yes, just earlier this year.

Oh, wow.....was her reply.

Next one up was......oh my......Joan Jett, Androgynous...........
She asks, what is 'androgynous'...
I deferred, and said that she should look it up tonight.
I said it was by a girl MY age, named Joan Jett.
I did not even get into our past.
She just happened to hit upon a chord from my past that resonated more than she realized.

There are some things I should not get into with a twenty yo in the workplace, no matter how interested and intelligent she may seem to be.

I may have to be very careful in dealing with this girl in the next few weeks, because she seems so innocent I could get into something I am not at all prepared for.

And I know she is going to be back at me with more questions, because she now considers me a man who knows much.

Which I do. Far too much.

Meow.

And when the next song came up.......I swear, it's all on shuffle play.......
A little bit of soap.....

I am in trouble, the gurl likes me................smirk on MY face.
She says, 'I am gonna play this for my boyfriend and if he does not like it...........' Oh boy.

We are 30 years apart. I do hope that she understands this was all just about the tunes.......

And then this was the next shuffle on the iPod...........
Oh, I am so screwed.
If this does not get to HR, I don't know what will.

She is thinking I picked these tunes for her...........oh, Jesus, save me.

Meow.

I put her off a bit.
I said.......if you want to be with me, we got to get some things straight.

You gonna pay my way?

You wanna be my gurl, you gonna pay the bills?

This put her back a couple of steps.

She says, are you proposing a deal? I said no, you were, and you did not know what you were saying.

Suppose I did?

Look, Mary, I am over 30 years your senior, you do not want this.

If I did...........?

What if? You are not ready for me, ever.

I am ready.

For what, little gurl? For the rest of your life with the rest of mine.........no bargain. I have demons ready to take mine in a wink.
You do NOT want this. Or me.

She would not let up. Walk, Mark, walk away very fast.

I ran from the plant when my time was up./

Interesting stuff.
Not necessarily my cuppa, but neither was most of his father's work.

Now, don't let that puppy crash into the record player......

The Jerome Geils Band.
Live in November of '77
Video is dark, the sound is just OK.
But, if you liked the band as much as I did, worth watching all almost 2 hours of it.

Enjoy, those of you who appreciate such things.

What can I say..............a man that I have idolized and listened to for so many years.
So what if he married his younger cousin?
I would have too, if it were legal.
'Course, my opinions are long past the legal case that ruined his career and his life.'

Only the music remains, last I heared Jerry Lee was fading fast.

Last I heard, he was still drinking a lot and making his living playing the casinos up north of Wisconsin here.

I can somewhat relate to the song.

The Killer and still alive at 80 years:)
‘I worry about whether I'm going to heaven or hell’.
There was the time he drove up to Graceland, drunk on liquor and high on pills, with a gun on his dashboard, demanding that Elvis come down from the house on the hill to prove who was the real king.

Great musician though.

I have to preface this with the first clip.
Because if you have never seen Wes Harrison live, you would not believe he can do this.
OK, now you have seen him do this.............

Now, here is the duck hunting story.
And I did see him do this live, a very long time ago.
Wes and his Shure microphone only, no props, nothing other than his mouth and the mike.
Here we go..................
The big duck hunt.

And oh, I would not do that to you.............he gets even better.
Here is the The big duck hunt, part II.

Here, he does it for a non-english speaking audience........Russian or German, I am not sure............but the sound effects he does with his mouth have the same effect.Meow..................look at the smiles.

Born in 1925, as far as I can determine, he is still alive. Amazing talent.
