Hello, I tried the following to crunch 5 tasks at a time (all nonVLARs) on my new GTX 1060 (since at 4, the GPU core is at ~90%) <name>setiathome_v8</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.20</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.20</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions>...but it doesn't process more than 4 tasks. The only thing I succeded in doing is trying different variations around the on above, and I ended up once with 4 MBs & 1 Astropulse, which brought the card to a crawl. Cheers, RobG |

<max_concurrent>30</max_concurrent> i would set that to thirdy, just to be save. Please before <gpu_versions> |

<coproc> <type>CUDA</type> <count>0.20</count> That's the part you want to change to run 5 iff you're using app_info , config probably sum thing similar Life is what you make of it :-) When i'm good i'm very good , but when i'm bad i'm shi#eloads better ;-) In't I " buttercups " p.m.s.l at authoritie !!;-) |

Hello, If this is the 1060 card why does it say that machine is running anonymous platform ? As the above is not what should be in your appinf file that looks more like a appconfig file . |

Oops, my OP didn't mention that the code was in the file: app_config.xml I just assumed that anyone who could answer would have known that. As for other files, I have only edited: app_info.xml a few times in July to run Raistmer's latest NV_SoG and I followed the simple steps detailed in one of BilBg's posts. So all this to say that none of the posted answers currently help me as they are not detailed enough. Please stay on topic as the "August 2016" saga referred to in my sig is still unresolved and is now on day-14! I am quite tired of the whole ordeal and don't need anyone taking cheap shots. It might not be intended, but its impact is currently taken as such. Normally, I would likely have assumed it was a friendly banter, but I can't take the chance of being dragged into another conflict until the Aug 4th one is closed. Sorry to be so blunt, but everyone has there limits. Thank you for your understanding or at least your empathy/sympathy. Sincerely, RobG |

Hello, I refer to my last post Oops, my OP didn't mention that the code was in the file: app_config.xml Cheap shots at you !!!! A cheap shot ....Ask a silly question get a silly answer !! , definition of a cheap shot :-) No point saying use Lunatics that machine is using it . 5 units should be 0.20 gpu usage I would also use 0.25 CPU usage and reserve a extra core for that and add max_concurrent>?< this number should include CPU units too as another user has said But only in a appconfig file |

Please stay on topic as the "August 2016" saga referred to in my sig is still unresolved and is now on day-14! Hey Darth Beaver, Sorry for my msg; it had nothing to do with you. Plus, I over-reacted a bit. I still don't fully understand your answer. <max_concurrent>30</max_concurrent> goes in app_config.xml ? if so, before which line? Thanks in advance, RobG |

I still don't fully understand your answer. As described in the documentation. |

Under <gpu_version> Also why you trying a app_config file if your running the app_inf The app_inf controls how many not the app_config if your going to use the app_inf..... maybe one of them needs to be called app_inf1.xml to allow the app_onfig to have control or the other way around . |

Both files can be used together: they are fully compatible. app_info determines which applications are to be used. app_config can (optionally) be used to fine-tune how they are used. It's much easier to use to make quick changes for testing. ['read config files' activates app_config, but any change to app_info requires a full client restart] |

<coproc> . . Funny thing is on my rig with 2 x GTX970s I had to set it to 0.19 or only four would start on the second GPU. And yep it is the same value/command if you set it in app_config.xml . |

<coproc> The number 0.2, (i.e. 1/(3+2) ) isn't precisely representable in binary floating point format, so depending on whether or not the client performs any rounding gymnastics (probably not), putting 0.2 in the .xml file, is probably interpreted as 0.2000000000000000111022302 double precision. loook the answer is --> Change in the rounding by Boinc version perhaps ? Could be interesting to track down the change. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. a app_config.xml like this is necessary too. <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome_v8</name> <max_concurrent>31</max_concurrent> </app> <app> <name>setiathome_v7</name> <max_concurrent>31</max_concurrent> </app> <project_max_concurrent>10</project_max_concurrent> </app_config> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ if we assume he has three 1060 * 5 = 15 Jobs plus cpu 8 core HT on = 16 Jobs together 31 Jobs(wu's) parallel Therefore max_concurrent must be >= 31 you need 32 CPU's to handle such workload. To realize this you need a cc_config.xml like this: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ <cc_config> <options> <start_delay>120</start_delay> <ncpus>32</ncpus> <use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus> <skip_cpu_benchmarks>1</skip_cpu_benchmarks> </options> </cc_config> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ That's it. But don't forget your hardware must be able todo it. Happy crunching. D5400XS V8-Xeon |
