I have yet to hear anything from the biblical literalists how radiocarbon dating is wrong. |

Or uranium decay into lead, which is accurate to billions of years, rather than 50,000 years of radio carbon dating. What really astounds me, is that these people wish to remain wrong, regardless of evidence. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

Another thought. Hawaii and Yellowstone are over hot spots. The plates move, at a constant speed. The geographic evidence can time when each erroptive period existed, along with measuring the tectonic speed. The correlation is undeniable. Core samples, of both ice and rock, triangulation from one spot on earth to another to a distant star, the evidence is beyond overwhelming, but some people must keep their heads buried in the sand. They claim that all scientific proof of the age of the planet, solar system, galaxies and of course the universe are lies perpetrated by the scientific community to lead us astray. It makes life simple and they don't have to think. There is a lot of psychology to that. Whenever I hear someone identify as a "Christian", I get the impression the person is saying, "don't question my beliefs". If rigidity is what they need, then so be it. I'm an agnostic Catholic, and am open to all sorts of discussions about religion, atheism, etc. I wear a rosary around my neck because it gives me comfort going back to my days as a child raised in a Catholic home, and my mother likes to see me display it. Neither one of us is dogmatic in any way about the bible or religion in general, but some of the Catholic traditions like lighting vigil candles just make us feel good. I wish the bible thumpers were open-minded, but they're not. C'est la vie. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

That's a good post Gordon. I am 100% atheist. My belief will be where the evidence takes me. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

I believe in the message Jesus was trying to deliver, but all the stuff that got added later is mostly garbage. I am an agnostic leaning toward atheism. Most churches have too many rules not relating to the true mission of Christ. Bob DeWoody My motto: Never do today what you can put off until tomorrow as it may not be required. I am 100% atheist. My belief will be where the evidence takes me. Right. I want there to be spiritual things, ghosts, other dimensions, wormholes, and ET, but I know there's no real evidence to support any of it. I hope someday to understand more, and maybe if there is life after death, that will be when I find some answers. Until then, I can't rule anything out, that's why I consider myself agnostic. They were a motivating force behind me to drift to the left from being a moderate Republican 40 yrs ago or so. |

Noah's Ark is Plagiarized-Here's How We Know. LOL. It's so strange that some people belive that the Bible should be read literally. For instance, that the US "replica" of Noah's Ark has been done according to instructions from the bible. Thats ridiculous. Gustave Doré illustrated a bible about 150 years ago. For some reasons the two modern versions of the Ark (US and Holland) looks the same. Did Gustave Doré follow the instructions from the Bible? Of course not:) BTW. Are they seaworthy? The Dutch version was supposed to be "sailing" to Rio de Janeiro in time for the Olympic Games but that didn't happen. Most likely because of lack of fundings together with the fact that the "ship" can not be approved by authorities to do such a trip. |

What bothers me more are "scientific" expeditions to Mt. Ararat looking for signs of the Ark at altitudes that any sane person should know never flooded. But that was some 100 million years ago. It was the seabed then and you can even find marine fossils there. Caucasus is the youngest and the fastest rising mountain ridge in the world. Maybe scientists have got some calculation wrong and that Caucasus rised only in a couple of thousand years:) |

An artistic replica of Noah's Ark as described in the bible has opened in Kentucky. I'm not that far away, and might go out of curiosity. Just make sure that you stay clear of the wacko Aussie bloke running the joint Gordon. ;-) Basically no one down under was gullible enough to believe him, but he found plenty over there in your country that are/where quite willing to fund his ideals. The project itself is .... um .... of an example of what maybe a great engineering project, but ..... I bet he won't get it to go far out to sea in it let alone take the stresses of a flood. There's a very good reason why we needed steel to be able to build something of that size and capacity. :-D Though I do believe that he's a very close buddy to Intelligent Design. ;-) Cheers. |

Read Gavin Menzies and Expand Your Mind Below from about dot com Zheng He's Treasure Ships of Ming Dynasty(1405-1433): Incredibly, the largest ships in the fleet (called baoshan, or "treasure ships") were likely between 440 and 538 feet long by 210 feet wide. These 4-decked baoshan had an estimated displacement of 20-30,000 tons, roughly 1/3 to 1/2 the displacement of modern American aircraft carriers. Each had nine masts on its deck, rigged with square sails that could be adjusted in series to maximize efficiency in different wind conditions. BIG STRONG STORMY SEA WORTHY YAP LOL. Wyoming was a wooden six-masted schooner, the largest wooden schooner ever built.[citation needed] It was built and completed in 1909 by the firm of Percy & Small in Bath, Maine.[1] Wyoming was also one of the largest wooden ships ever built, 450 ft (140 m) from jib-boom tip to spanker boom tip, and the last six-masted schooner built on the east coast of the US. Because of its extreme length and wood construction, Wyoming tended to flex in heavy seas, which would cause the long planks to twist and buckle, thereby allowing sea water to intrude into the hold (see hogging and sagging). Wyoming had to use pumps to keep its hold relatively free of water. In March 1924, it foundered in heavy seas and sank with the loss of all hands. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyoming_(schooner) The ship was built by fully skilled and experienced workers. The Ark was built by 14 persons with no knowledge at all to build ships! |
