It was 17 years ago today that I joined SETI@home in the search for ET. According to the newspaper article I read about the project, SETI@home was only going to be a 3 year project. Every day past that initial 3 year time frame, I consider it a bonus. I started using an AMD K6-2 CPU running at 166MHz (no GPU processing at that time). My, how the times and technology have changed since way back then.

Anyone else a member of this club?

17 Years ago today I started crunching for ET. I have taken a break here and there but have seen a ton of changes. Hopefully we keep seeing changes that improve our experience and chances of finding the signal in the sea of chaos.

I have been crunching now for SETI for 17 years, too. I haven't taken any breaks, but my total is pretty low compared to most of the rest of you. Nonetheless, I will keep plugging away. I hope we are looking in the right places and that we find the real WOW signal soon. Congrats to the veterans, the newbies, and anyone else with milestones to celebrate.

I spent too much time partying on Cinco de Mayo that I completely forgot my own anniversary!

Congrats to everyone who contributes to SETI and any other volunteering project.

Thank You to all of those that have persevered. Next year we will be old enough to vote (in the U.S. anyway).
