OpenCl 2.2

The Khronosâ„¢ Group, an open consortium of leading hardware and software companies, announces the immediate availability of the OpenCLâ„¢ 2.2, SYCLâ„¢ 2.2 and SPIR-Vâ„¢ 1.1 provisional specifications. OpenCL 2.2 incorporates the OpenCL C++ kernel language for significantly enhanced parallel programming productivity. These new specifications can be found at www.khronos.org and are released in provisional form to enable developers and implementers to provide feedback before finalization, including at the Khronos forums.

Here and here some examples

Immediately I see how this could help (if it is what its name implies): Program scope local memory
EDIT: all other is more for new code simplification and generalization. If app already written putting it from C to C++ adds not too much for performance.
