Hi guys! I am trying to create a app_config.xml file so that i can run multiple work units on my 770GTX as its only using 50% of the GPU. I have searched and searched and all the posts about this subject have old configs and i tried a few and they don't work. Can i steal anyone's app_config setup please? I am aware of where to place it in the program files. Thanks for all your help! |

This is the one I use to run 2 WUs at a time on my GPUs, running MB only. Changing <gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage> to <gpu_usage>0.33</gpu_usage> would give 3 WUs at a time. <app_config> <app> <name>setiathome_v8</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.00</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> <app> <name>setiathome_v7</name> <gpu_versions> <gpu_usage>0.50</gpu_usage> <cpu_usage>0.04</cpu_usage> </gpu_versions> </app> </app_config> Once edited & saved in the setiathome.berkeley.edu directory all you need to do is go to "Options, Read config files" in the BOINC manager for the changes to take effect. Try this for a starting point. Remember you have to 'read config files' in BOINC after changing it. And use notepad to edit it.

For future reference for those doing a search on this file (for those of us who might not be aware of where it goes), where exactly does this file get put? *edit* Found it: This mechanism allows you to specify scheduling parameters for specific applications or app versions. It is available with 7.0.40+ client versions. |

That file is usually hidden by default on windows. You need to unhide the Program Data folder in order to find it. Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, and then clicking Folder Options. Click the View tab. Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders, and then click OK. |

Yep, always do that on all the computers I use. I just wasn't sure if it was in the program data dir or the BOINC dir is all. All good information to know! |
