I'm still on my phone, my replacement motherboard had what is looking like a somewhat bad cpu, the cpu has some mostly transparent spots on the back on the gold pads, which are barely visible, especially to a camera phone, thankfully I have another i7 3820 cpu, of course no refund is possible after 6 months according to paypal, ebay stops after 30 days, so there goes about $180.00 or so, the next cpu can wait, though I am watching one now, a 3.5GHz Xeon with 6 cores. I need to get the good cpu 100% covered witb thermal compound, then test on cardboard, then install everything once the cpu and motherboard are working properly, then I should be back, thankfully my win 7 pro x64 install is a retail one. One week and no working pc, ugh... Of course I am a bit better at typing on a screen now. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Sounds like you need a backup. A Windows tablet (with keyboard)can be had for about half as much as that CPU cost you. Turns out the motherboard won't work even with a different cpu installed, it's rma time for the EVGA X79 Classified, but first I need to install the ASUS RIVE motherboard on Monday. That should work, I inspected both, both look ok, EVGA has had people say their bioses are bad sometimes. ASUS I have never had a bad motherboard, but then there is a first time for everything. A new ASUS RIVE on Amazon is at least $400.00. I need a working pc before the 28th of April, my notes and bills are on a usb stick. I have 2 more chances, 3 if I were to find the original chipset block for my ASUS Rampage III Extreme, which I know works... Yes I think I know where that missing block is too, I think. EDIT: I have no idea where that part is at. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Thanks TL. I did not find the chipset block here at home and I have looked in half a dozen boxes so far, however I did find an as is motherboard on ebay that has a chipset block that I need, the only problem is the auction ends on Tuesday the 19th and I won't have the funds until the 29th, its not like I can borrow, I'm broke for the moment and I doubt the seller will wait 10 days, some will and some won't, yeah I do need help. Current bid is at $28.00, $15.00 shipping. http://m.ebay.com/itm/AS-IS-ASUS-Maximus-Rampage-III-Extreme-ROG-x58-LGA1366-Motherboard-/262384090826?nav=WATCHING_ACTIVE The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Quite a few bidders there. There are only 4 bidders there BladeD, I've seen more, exccept for the red/black chipset block the rest is not immediately usable to Me. I just asked if the seller could wait until the 29th to get paid, but then I need that part... The seller got back to Me, the seller can't wait until the 29th when I get My next check. :( The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
