Years ago it used to be "Cooking the books", 1 set for consumption & another to hide assets, now...

The Panama Papers - The biggest data leak ever

... ain't technology grand :-)

Surprisingly, the strongest connection is the UK and 5 years after making this statement...

The prime minister set out his line in 2011 when he said: “We need to shine a spotlight on who owns what and where the money is really flowing.”

...which only continues to show the country his ineptness.

Just being mischievous here, wonder if Trump is on that list? :-)

Edit: What is strange though is this: -

Can you honestly say you were totally unaware of this?

https://panamapapers.icij.org/the_power_players/
Files reveal the offshore holdings of 140 politicians and public officials from around the world.
Current and former world leaders in the data include prime ministers of Iceland and Pakistan, the president of Ukraine, and the king of Saudi Arabia.
More than 214,000 offshore entities appear in the leak, connected to people in more than 200 countries and territories.
Major banks have driven the creation of hard-to-trace companies in offshore havens.

Many of these politicians are elected to counter tax evasion.
Or at least I thought that.
Although these people do just the opposite.
It's not a crime but yet it's tax evasion.
Just got my papers from "IRS" last week to declare my income and assets:(
Anybody who knows some loopholes?

I forgot.
Iceland's Prime Minister, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson:)

The question is though: - Will they learn from this?

Now it's beginning to turn hilarious...

Leaks spur global investigations

...they've known about this for years, so the laugh is on us, the poor blooming taxpayers.

To think some one would hide money in their own name. Serves them right
to get caught so easily after having five months warning in the press. Still
it might be fun to see how this one wrings out.

It's the country's with dirty fingers that have to worry as some country's have had enough and are going to crack down on Corporate tax dodging .

AKA there has already been investigations here because of the budget problems facing our government .

If Labor win the election they are going to change laws . When political Party's start to see it's going to help them win and balance the budget the Corp's of the world need to watch out

Let's hope and there not full off it

Iceland is a small country. Only about 330,000 citizens.
Yesterday more than 20,000 tax payers in Iceland was protesting in Reykjavik.
As a comparision it would be like 20 million tax payers in the US doing the same in DC.

It would seem to me that we are in for a rash
of car upsets, ship sinking's, untimely
heart attacks and other such unexpected
departures of certain personages in the world
of business. The revelations of the scope
of the current con will cause disruptions
across the world.
We had hoped that we would not see this in our lifetimes.

Yes. The first "victim" from the leaks.
Well now he can at least comfort himself with some icecream.
Reykjavik's famous ice cream parlor Ísbúðin Valdís has responded to the controversy with an ice cream flavor called "Panama offshore".
The new dessert is touted as a mixture of lemon sorbet and vanilla ice.
The sweet course has been aptly named Wintris after Gunnlaugsson's offshore company and is described as "sour, with a tinge of arrogance" as well as "tax deductible".

Love it. :-)

Now the banks need to get hit hard, especially after their cockups in 2007/08.

Major banks deny claims

An internal email from Mossack Fonseca's compliance department also suggests HSBC staff dealing with Drex Technologies knew who Rami Makhlouf was.

The email, dated 17 February 2011, says: "We have contacted HSBC who stated that they are very aware of the fact that Mr Makhlouf is the cousin of the President of Syria.

"The HSBC compliance department of the bank not only in Geneva but also in their headquarters in London know about Mr Makhlouf and confirm that they are comfortable with him."

ROFLMAO

Ain't technology grand.
