This can be an "inadvertent" effect of the use of the solar block glass - which is often a thin film of gold or gold/tungsten on the glass. (Gold/tungsten films are more scratch resistant than just plain gold, but somewhat less effective for a given film thickness). These films are so thin as to be virtually invisible...
