Why won't v44 Recognize my Video card right? It's an nVIDIA 660sc Kepler core. http://www.evga.com/products/Specs/GPU.aspx?pn=d349be71-c0d9-4360-bdfa-8e17897522dd. I Desire Peace and Justice, Jim Scott (Mod-Ret.) |

What do you mean by "Why won't v44 Recognize my Video card right?" ??? EDIT- If you're talking about the Lunatics Installer for Windows v0.44 it doesn't recognise the card correctly because there is no way for it to recognise the video card; making it possible would have taken more work than it would have been worth. You need to select the CUDA version to use, based on the information in the read me file or the first post in the "Lunatics Windows Installer v0.44 - new release for v8 (required upgrade)" thread. I *think* Jim might be expecting the installer to detect the kinds of GPU installed. Please correct me if I am wrong Jim. No you have to select the applications to install with the radio buttons. It is of course entirely technically possible to detect such hardware and automate selections, though it seems shortcut malware/antivirus heuristics don't like such approaches, so please know what hardware you have (and select accordingly) :) Most likely future detection automation will rely on post installation features. Cuda 50 is correct for a GTX660 IMO. |

It's really odd that the stock CUDA 5.0 app is working on your system. Given it is the same executable in the Lunatics v0.44 installer package. v44 Errored every CUDA 50 is why I dropped back to stock on that box, I don't have any clue as to what v44 choice to try. It screwed up when I tried CUDA 42 also.?! I Desire Peace and Justice, Jim Scott (Mod-Ret.) |

Possibly the OCd card is causing errors, try slowing it down with something like MSI afterburner |

Just a thought, Jim... What Anti-Virus program do you have? Have you tried watching the computer as Lunatics attempts to start a Unit, and then catch a Warning Message from your AV stating that it is attempting to Block the Unit from processing??? You may need to manually Exclude Lunatics from your AV; or, set to Prompt you and then manually Override the Warning/Block from the AV. If your AV allows Exclusions, you should also Exclude the BOINC Data Folder. I'm using PCMatic, and CANNOT perform Exclusions; but can sit and catch the Warning Messages as they come up for "New" Units and manually hit "Always Allow" so that they are put to the AV White List. Then I don't have to worry about the AV until the next new release of Lunatics, and SETI Units. TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |
